National Apprenticeship Training Scheme

National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) is a government-sponsored training programme to help graduate and diploma students in the field of engineering / non-engineering to enhance their vocational and technical skills. It is a one-year training programme, in which the apprentices are paid a nominal NATS stipend by the government. After the successful completion of their respective training programmes, the apprentices will be rewarded with an Apprenticeship Certificate (COP) issued by the Government of India through Ministry of Education.

About NATS

It is a 1 year programme equipping technically qualified youth with practical knowledge and skills required in their field of work.

The Apprentices are imparted training by the organizations at their place of work. Trained managers with well-developed training modules ensure that Apprentices learn the job quickly and completely.

During the period of Apprenticeship, the apprentices are paid a stipend amount, 50% of which is reimbursable to the employer from the Government of India.

At the end of the training period, the Apprentices are issued a Certificate of Proficiency by the Government of India which can be registered at all employment exchanges across India as valid employment experience.

The apprentices are placed for training at Central, State and Private organizations which have excellent training facilities.

A Certificate of Proficiency, issued by the Government of India, is awarded to apprentices upon completing their training under the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS). This certificate recognizes their practical skills and knowledge in a specific field and is considered equivalent to one year of job experience.

No LABOUR LAWS are applicable under this NAPS scheme. Industry need not pay EPF (provident fund), ESIC and other statutes so that reduces the cost to the company.

More than 50% saving on wages by the establishments & annual saving is about Rs. 60,000/- per year for one apprentice.

Candidate will not be considered as an employee and he/ she will be considered as a Trainee.

Candidates will be staying for a tenurity of 1 year where there will be no attrition issues and absenteeism issues to the industry.

Industry will never get any risk of making any documentation, portal process in this scheme.

Expenditure on engaging apprentices more than 2.5% can be booked under CSR Liability/ funds, So Proper utilisation of CSR funds will be done.

  • Reimbursement of 50% of prescribed stipend subject to a maximum of Rs. 4500/- per month per apprentice from Central government.
